Over the years, the blooming of azaleas in Piazza di Spagna (the Spanish Steps) has become a symbol of the arrival of spring in Rome, bringing life to the square and attracting crowds from all over the world. Each year, the flowers burst into bloom in late April or early May, depending on the weather conditions. In 2024, the Municipality of Rome (Comune di Roma) announced that you can enjoy them starting from Friday, April 12th, for about a month.

Despite occasional challenges such as unfavorable weather conditions or pest infestations, the azaleas in Piazza di Spagna have continued to bloom beautifully year after year.
