Photographic exhibition dedicated to Italian women protagonists in science and culture. The exhibition, promoted by Rome Capital, Department of Culture, and the Capitoline Superintendence for Cultural Heritage, is curated and realized by the Fondazione Bracco in collaboration with Arthemisia. Through the lens of the internationally renowned Monegasque photographer Gerald Bruneau, the exhibition highlights not only the figure but above all the professional abilities of powerful women who have reached top positions in their fields. An eclectic journey of images and words unfolds in often hidden places, from grand marble-clad halls of historical buildings to inaccessible research laboratories, narrating the expert guidance of these professionals who frequently propose – through their own biographies – a model of inclusive and inspiring leadership.
The exhibition offers two distinct but complementary exhibition paths, now brought together for the first time in a single display, strongly desired by the Fondazione Bracco as part of its efforts to counter gender stereotypes and promote skills. These are conceived as both a priority axis for achieving equality and the sole criterion for any personal and collective development.
“Portrayed. Women of Art and Science” alternates stories of women leading primary cultural institutions in our country and some of the most important Italian scientists, in an ideal union of knowledge between art and science, an exemplary journey between art venues and scientific laboratories.
