Eurostar is going all the way to Rome! Rail firm bosses are eyeing route expansion to Italy, Spain and Portugal
Eurostar bosses are planning to run high-speed trains to Italy, Spain and Portugal. Ministers are helping the company launch dozens of ‘seamless’ services from London to European cities and holiday destinations. Currently the furthest Eurostar takes passengers is the south of France – around 800 miles from London. Eurostar currently runs direct services to Paris, Marseille, Brussels and Rotterdam on a fleet of 27 trains travelling at around 180mph.
Mentioned to be added in the future is Bordeaux, Spain, Portugal, Geneva, Austria Switzerland, Italy, Switzerland and Frankfurt. This will affect low-cost airlines as travellers will find this as a better option to traveling.
