If you are in Rome this February, don’t miss the chance to visit the free exhibition QUANDO ARRIVANO GLI DEI (When the Gods Arrive) at the Teatro del Lido in Ostia. The exhibition showcases the illustrations, notes and boards of the book Filemone e Bauci by Ovidio, published by Topipittori in the series L’età d’oro, with the new translation by Cristiana Pezzetta. The book is a retelling of the ancient myth of Philemon and Baucis, two elderly peasants who welcomed Jupiter and Mercury in disguise into their humble home, while the rest of their neighbors refused them hospitality. The illustrations are by Daniela Tieni, a talented artist who explores the themes of the myth, such as the celestial bodies, the sacred and living matter, and the transformation of the human and the divine.
