Join us on an epic evening walk along the Queen of Roads – Start in S. Maria delle Mole (accessible by train), end at Circus Maximus!
The Queen of Roads: Hike on the most famous Roman road, the Appian way – enjoy history and nature as we’ll walk past stunning and epic reminders of the Roman Empire. We’ll start in the afternoon and finish as the sun sets!
Where: S. Maria delle Mole (the exact meeting point will be announced after confirmation)

Duration: about 5.5 hours (the exact time varies, depending on the weather conditions and participants)

Return: We’ll finish the tour at Circus Maximus, near the Colosseum.

ℹ️ Difficulty Level: Moderate (Distance: 17km, includes uneven terrain). Good fitness required.
ℹ️ The final duration of the hiking event and the itinerary may vary, depending on weather conditions, unexpected obstacles, road closures, or other safety reasons. It is at the discretion of the professional hiking guide to determine alternatives or to shorten or extend the experience.
This is a professional activity in accordance with European Union legislation and Italian law no. 4 dating to 2003.
Sal is a professional guide enrolled in the register of the Italian Association of Interpretive Nature Guides – AIGAE.
What should you bring?
Obligatory: Comfortable hiking shoes, 1.5 liters of water, clothing suited for an outdoor hike, backpack, trail snacks
Recommended: Comfortable backpack, raincoat, sunscreen, hat (protection from both sun and rain), trail snacks, tickets for public transport, flashlight/head lamp
Optional: Hiking poles, electrolytes, sunglasses

Who is the guide?
Sal, a certified outdoor guide (member of AIGAE), leads this tour. He’s also a former Komoot route editor and a National Geographic Day Tour guide. His mission is to make information about the Italian outdoors and wilderness experiences accessible to everyone and to promote a healthier lifestyle and connection with nature.
