A marvelous waterside performance from Ponte Umberto I to the grand fireworks finale at Ponte Sisto, FREE and open to all.

After the success of Ponte Farnese by Olivier Grossetête in July 2021, a new and spectacular event on the Tiber River couldn’t be missed, this time not in the sky but on the water. This year, the French Embassy invited the historic company Ilotopie, a pioneer in street arts, which uses cities, countryside, rivers, water mirrors, woods, and unusual spaces as stages for an incredible crossing of the Tiber.

A “landscape theater” show that flows along the water, from Ponte Umberto I to Ponte Sisto, transforming the river into a real stage for the occasion.

Everyone, young and old, can witness the event from the embankments, bridges, and Lungotevere. The audience can thus follow the parade of 100 transparent figures guided by a flutist and three shepherds: 100 characters, 100 floating silhouettes with integrated lighting and solar panels, floating on the water like sailboats, sensitive to every breath and every slight movement of the water.

This procession offers the spectator a unique and dreamlike journey, in full respect of the local landscape, focusing on eco-sustainability, as the necessary energy is derived from the river current and the sun shining on the city. After crossing the Tiber, as a worthy finale of this journey, the company presents a spectacular fireworks entertainment, still on the water, at a point on the river near Palazzo Farnese. For the beginning of summer, Palazzo Farnese is more than ever “open for works” with a season full of events through which the Palace opens up to the city. Various artistic and cultural events will unfold on the facade, inside the Palace, and around the Palace.
