The artist presents 14 suspended canvases that explore the perception of disturbing images found on the web. The exhibition has been extended until September 3rd.
Curated by Giuseppe Armogida The exhibition is a continuation of a previous show at Galerie Valérie Delaunay in Paris. Julie Polidoro (1970) presents 14 suspended canvases in the Sala Fontana of the Palazzo delle Esposizioni.
The exhibition project stems from an attempt to understand our perception of disturbing images found on the web. Specifically, Polidoro focuses on images of waiting areas for migrants and landscapes that display the consequences of climate change. In both cases, the absence of space and time is strongly perceived: the migrants we would rather not see are as invisible as the rising temperatures.
“As each one’s place” allows no room, as Georges Perec says, for chance or difference.
Through painting, we expand time, give space and voice to human beings we would normally prefer not to see. Painting goes beyond fear.
