The 28th edition of the Isola del Cinema in the historic center is totally renewed in graphics and content, will take place from Thursday 16 June to Saturday 3 September.
Eighty days of excellent programming which includes the latest hits of the past film season, tributes to directors and actors, including, the aforementioned Monica Vitti, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Vittorio Gassman, Ugo Tognazzi, meetings with Italian and international guests, conferences, masterclasses, dialogue with other arts (music, photography, poetry, virtual reality) and the goal of zero impact on the environment. Entertainment moments will be offered by numerous restaurants for dining or for an aperitif overlooking one of the most beautiful places in Rome.
After almost three decades of history, Cinema Island 2022 presents itself with a fresh and innovative brand that perfectly expresses the synthesis between its identity and the transformations of today’s world. The two-year pandemic has not stopped the festival with appointments remotely or in other places in the capital, but now it is time to start again from where it all began. Still led by Giorgio Ginori and his team, this 28th season will be renewed in terms of logistics and set design, as well as content and appointments.
The Tiber Island is located between the Trastevere district and the Jewish Ghetto, the Tiberina Island running since 1995, the centenary year of the seventh art, the Isola del Cinema, an International Festival of Cinema and Culture. The event is produced by the Friends of Trastevere Association with the patronage of the MIC – Ministry of Culture, of the MAECI – Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, of the Lazio Region, Rome Capital and sponsored by the Italian National Commission for UNESCO.
